Students working in MCCTC's workshop.

One of the goals of this program is to provide Cumberland Plateau students skills that can be used to enhance their career opportunities. Hands-on experience peaks students' interests and helps them understand beyond what they can learn from a textbook.

There will be opportunity for students to engage in several aspects of the project. On the construction side, Morgan County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC) students will learn about tower creation and layout, erection, machining, and welding. Through it's technology-engineering program, Scott High School will develop design sketches and training manuals for each of the renewable systems. Tennessee Tech will have students correlating meteorological data with system generation.

Additionally, MCCTC will hold continuing education classes for the community on small wind tower construction and installation.  During the spring 2010 semester, MCCTC will hold adult education classes one night a week and teachers and students from each of the schools will have outreach events to the community.
